Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Review — The Comeback Nobody Expected

Verdict: 8.9 out of 10. The adaptation that had every reason to be a nostalgia cash-in is instead the best-looking Bleach has ever been.

The compositing is the headline. Backlighting, film grain and a colour script that shifts by arc give the Soul Society a texture the original run never had budget for.

Structurally, the source material's problems remain: an enormous cast, a villain roster introduced faster than it can be characterised, and a mid-arc power reset that flattens several beloved fighters. The adaptation mitigates these with reordering and added scenes rather than pretending they do not exist.

For returning fans it is a vindication. For newcomers it is inaccessible, and that is fine — this was always going to be a finale, not an entry point.
